Fitness testing
Participants in the academy will undergo fitness testing at the beginning of the school year, prior to their competitive season, and at the conclusion of their season. These tests are used to monitor the progress of the participants, identify strengths and areas for immediate improvement, and to evaluate the effectiveness of the conditioning program.
The following tests were used for the 2015-16 school year:
40-yard Sprint (Anaerobic Alactic Energy System and Acceleration)
Yo-yo Intermittent Test (Anaerobic Lactic Energy System)
T-Test/Illinois Test (Agility)
Push-ups and Pull-ups (Upper Body Muscular Endurance)
Seated Medicine Ball Throw (Upper Body Power)
Vertical Jump and Standing Long Jump (Lower Body Power)
